Welcome the Year of the Rabbit at Crystal Seafood

Experience the flavour of authentic Chinese cuisine at Crystal Seafood Restaurant while watching a spectacular Lion Dancing performance amid the clash of cymbals and gongs. All these will happen on Friday night, 4th of February 2011.

The Lunar Year or Spring Festival is probably the most important of all Chinese holidays. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar and ends with Lantern Festival on the 15th day.

This year has been designated as the Year of the Rabbit. It is celebrated in countries and territories with significant Chinese populations such as mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Although not an official holiday in Australia, many ethnic Chinese, including those from the Philippines regard the Chinese New Year as a major celebration.

Sydney streets will come alive with a parade of elaborately decorated lanterns and swirling costumes, complete with dancing lions and dragons.

Traditionally, the colour red will be widely used as it is believed to scare a mythical beast called the Nien. But ironically, red is also the colour of the envelope or packet that is given by parents to children. It contains money as a symbol of wealth and believed to deliver good luck to the recipient.

At Crystal Seafood Restaurant, food will include such items as pork, Peking duck, chicken and sweet delicacies.

Book your reservations early, as there may not be enough seats to accommodate the large number of people who want to witness this once-a-year celebration. Call (02) 9831 8338 or visit the website
