Manila, Philippines. January 25, 2011. Four people were killed and 14 others injured when a bomb exploded inside a passenger bus that was travelling along EDSA in Makati City, Metro Manila. The blast caused a big hole on the floor and side of the Newman Gold Liner. According to reports, there was a man who placed a bag inside the passenger bus but immediately left prior to the explosion.
As of press time, police investigators have not determined whether it was a terrorist attack. It happened two months after the US and several other Western governments warned that a terrorist attack in Metro Manila was imminent. “Terrorist attacks could be indiscriminate and could occur not only in the southern islands but also in other areas, to include Manila,” the US advisory said. “Targeted sites may be public gathering places that are frequented by expatriates and foreign travelers, including American citizens.” (SOURCE: Agence France-Presse)
