Just when you thought, it can’t be done – it can! Owning your dream home is a distinct possibility! Despite the economic downturn, it is still very possible to own your home.
Contrary to the news of doom, it is an opportune time to invest in your future and secure your home. Families can take advantage of the first home owners grant and other government initiatives available.
The Government has implemented initiatives to encourage spending and on offer is a $7,000 grant for the first home-buyer.
“It’s a matter of knowing where to go and how to access the essential resources available. Most people do not hear about the details of the first home owners grant” says Tes Casin, principal and licencee for Real Property Network.
“In fact, couples may be entitled to up to $24,000 grant which may be used towards the purchase of their first home,” she adds.
In addition to the first home owners’ grant, there are other financial boosters and supplements which have been made available for qualified NSW first home buyers. Depending on whether you are buying an established home or a brand new home, couples or individuals who qualify, may access in part or all of the $24,000 funds available. Some banks and financial institutions may agree to have the amount put towards the deposit for your home.
For those wanting a brand new home, “off the plan” buys may be an option which gives couples more time to save. An “off the plan” means you look at the developers’ building plan, and commit to purchase prior to 30 June 2009 but completion is not until December 2010.
With the property market down and interest rates low, the prices of properties have also dipped. However, investment opportunities are high. That means that there are affordable properties out there for the picking.
“You’ll be surprised to see what you can get for what you can afford. We encourage people to come and visit us at the office, so that we may explain clearly what are the best options for them,” says Ms. Casin.

We assist them, step by step, to make sure that they are fully informed of all their options and possibilities and to make the whole process a pleasant experience,” she says.
Only 3 years old, RPN is a success story, born not out of luck, but of persistence, determination and hard work. It’s a philosophy they like to share with Filipino migrants to help them achieve their dreams too.
