Whitman’s Sampler is a popular brand of chocolate candies that is imported from America. Inside the box is a variety of assorted sweets that are coated with chocolate. The actual size of the above box is 23X14.75X3 inches which is huge compared to standard sizes being retailed in popular food stores around Australia.
But this one is almost 2 feet in length and is 3 inches thick. One would think that the price tag of $25 is a real bargain because a standard size normally costs around $15. The thickness would indicate that the box contains 2 layers as the usual thickness of a standard size is only about one inch.
Lo and behold! The huge box contains only one layer. The top is elevated by an empty cardboard that contains no candies. It is imported by Whitman’s Candy, Inc. Victoria. The chocolate is indeed made in America but the box is made in China.
