Express yourself for FREE

The Filipino Australian Movement for Empowerment (FAME) in collaboration with the publisher of Filipin-Oz Directory will be conducting a series of information sessions for the benefit of all Filipinos.

The information sessions dubbed as “Expresso” will be held every 3rd Saturday of the month from 1pm-3pm at Corregidor Restaurant at Rooty Hill Road North, Rooty Hill.

The first of the series of the Expresso seminars will be held on Saturday, 21 March 2009 from 1pm-3pm and will focus on advertising and public relations – “How to effectively promote your business, your club, and yourself.”

Fame’s Expresso series will dish out hot topics for general discussion and deal with basic communication skills to help towards the empowerment of the Filipino in Australia.  Information translates to knowledge and knowledge is power.

It will tackle topics on advertising, promotions, printing, Australia’s political system, your rights, discrimination & harassment, taxation, mortgage & investment and many other relevant topics needed for everyday survival.  The communication series will be conducted by Benjie de Ubago, publisher of Filipin-Oz.  Subsequent sessions will be conducted by special guests, experts in their field of endeavors, and will be advertised accordingly.

“We want to be able to give the Filipino the basic skills they need to function effectively in Australia’s society.” said a spokesperson for the group.

The seminars are free of charge and are designed to be conducted in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Coffee and tea will be provided but those who wish to come earlier may do so and have their lunch at Corregidor at cost.

“Through Fame’s ‘Expresso’ info series, we hope to slowly start eliminating the fears most Filipinos have that hinder their advancement or achievements.  They can communicate without fear of embarrassment or recrimination and be on the road to empowerment.” said the spokesperson.
