Construction of a new under-cover area at the Filipino multipurpose centre in Schofields may start as early as this month of June, following approval of a NSW Government grant of $34,000 for the structure.
The under-cover structure of approximately 13m by 13m with concrete floor will be located behind the main clubhouse, according to Philippine Australia Community Foundation (PACF) chairman Manny Villon.
It will have many uses, especially for larger gatherings and presentations that the clubhouse may not be able to accommodate, Mr. Villon said.
NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell said funding will be through the 2011 NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership (CBP) program.
In a letter to the PACF which runs the [Filipino] multipurpose centre, Premier O’Farrell congratulated the foundation on its “successful application, number CBPP-8155-12645-11-12 for construction and installation of external facilities” at the Schofields site.
‘’Government officers will be in contact with you shortly to resolve any outstanding issues and if satisfactory, a draft contract offer will be forwarded to you by the end of April for funding of $34,000 for your organization,’’ the Premier said.
‘’I wish you every success with your project, which I am sure will provide improved local infrastructure for the benefit of your community.’’
