Ramon Coloma, a Filipino-Australian artist based in Sydney, is holding an art exhibition which pays tribute to successful and inspirational people. The one-man exhibition titled “Portraits of Success” which opened on 11th February will end on 13th April 2013. The exhibition is being held at The Verge, Arthouse Hotel at 275 Pitt Street, Sydney. The Arthouse gallery is open Monday-Friday at 12noon till late; Saturday from 6pm till late; but closed on Sundays. Entrance is FREE.
The exhibition includes portraits of 25 people, majority of whom are household names. These are Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Peter Cosgrove, Princess Mary, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Russell Crowe, Cathy Freeman and Dr Victor Chang, to name a few. It also includes portraits of Filipinos such as Tony Meloto [founder of Gawad Kalinga], Alfredo Roces [writer-artist and member of Filipino Press Sydney group], Manny Pacquiao [champion boxer] and Ramon’s wife Annie with their younger son Lawrence.
Before he migrated to Australia in 1988, Ramon Coloma has also conducted successful several art exhibitions in the Philippines and Singapore. He has also completed two coffee-table art books — “You Get What You Choose” and “Heroes” — which will soon be published and launched.
