Pathways to Professional Excellence is the theme of Australia’s Marriage Celebrants (AMC) Conference slated on 19-21 June at Rydges Hotel in Canberra. The conference will be attended by Civil Marriage Celebrants all over the country. Neria Soliman, a licensed Civil Marriage Celebrant from Sydney had briefings on what to expect during an AMC Meeting held last 6 May 2009.
CMC Catherine Flavell, who is an officer of the association is taking charge of the reservation, programmes and updates of the conference. President of this prestigious organization is Keith Lammond. He is behind the concept of the national convention which is viewed as a weekend of networking with fellow celebrants, expanding knowledge and gaining further insight into the industry.
The conference will have morning and afternoon sessions. Formal dinner will be served on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, there will be 4 hours of further training as an annual requirement of the Australian Government. A day tour of Canberra is part of the activities.
Marriage Celebrants are appointed by the Australian Commonwealth’s Attorney-General’s Department and are committed to professionalism and sensitivity in the performance of Marriage Ceremonies. They are expected to abide by a strict Code of Practice. From the website, the role of a Marriage Celebrant and the importance of his/her appointment can be gleaned. From the web pages, names of authorized Marriage Celebrants can be found. It is important to note that Marriage Celebrants are not restricted to one area and often travel to other surrounding areas. The website is vital in selecting the most appropriate celebrant that suits one’s needs. A Marriage Celebrant’s role in a wedding is probably the most important role and it is essential that you choose one in whom you have confidence.
