PAINTINGS by four Filipino-Australian artists went on exhibit as ‘Four Songs to Oz’ from July 16 at the Arthouse Hotel bistro on Pitt Street in Sydney’s central business district (CBD).
The artworks hang on the bistro walls as patrons have their meals and drinks. They will be on display until Saturday, September 14.
A brainchild of artist Ramon Coloma and on invitation of Arthouse Hotel management, the exhibit also featured artworks of other award-winning Filipino artists Alfredo Roces, Alberto Estanislao, and Frank Rovero.
His other paintings located at the entrance to the Arthouse bistro are ‘Bakas Ng Kahapon, Allelyjia’, and ‘Dream Catcher’.
The Arthouse Hotel is a stylish taproom where arty types and suits mix it side by side in the heart of the CBD.
Featuring original architecture dating back to 1836 when it served as The School of Arts, this distinctive building has continuously evolved amid the city’s ever-changing fortunes. With four bars and a restaurant, all available for functions, the Arthouse Hotel is hugely popular for events ranging from serious-minded corporate affairs to casual get-togethers, gala dinners, and publicity spectaculars.
In keeping with its heritage-listed origins, Arthouse regularly plays host to creative arts events including live drawing, art exhibitions, burlesque and cabaret variety nights, photography workshops, and DJ and club nights.
From the Attic Bar with its stuffed Chesterfield couches and boho style, to the modern and theatrical Verge Bar and the Gallery bar’s ornate art deco stylings, there’s something — and somewhere — for everyone. The Dome Restaurant and Bar also doubles as exhibition hanging space for constantly changing artworks by Sydney’s best artists. All spaces double as an exhibition gallery.
