We published in a past issue of this paper that the Philippine-Australian Community Foundation Inc. has come up with a Newsletter. On its front page, it was announced that the new name of the Filipino Multi-Purpose Centre is now Philippine-Australian Cultural Centre. We do not have any information regarding the number of copies that have been circulated.
It was further announced that they have a Naming Competition for the newsletter and that the last day of submission was 28 April 2009.
The Editorial Board is headed by a priest in the person of Fr. Raul del Prado.
As of this writing, however, there has been no action about the naming competition, according to Fr. Raul. He said that “he has been reminding Luz (Tiqui) about it, and yet, there seems to be a slack response regarding the newsletter.”
In an email that has been forwarded to Philippine Sentinel, Luz Tiqui has been quoted as saying that “there are no new info’s (sic) that could be published for the next issue” and that “there is no sufficient funding for the publication.”
Fr. Raul believes that “the Centre has a great potentiality if only the people behind it are open to changes.”
