Liverpool, NSW. May 31, 2009. During the 14th Anniversary of the Flores De Mayo-Santa Cruzan celebration held at All Saints Catholic Church, Ms Donna Jones of the Visayan Association of Australia shone as Princess Flores De Mayo. Her mestiza beauty really dazzled the crowd who gathered at the Parish Hall. She was dressed in her shining white Filipiniana gown which was reminiscent of exotic dresses worn during the early days of the Spanish-occupied Philippines. The event was a success for the organisers Fil-Oz Liverpool with the full support of the Philippine Community Council of NSW Inc. and its affiliated groups. In attendance was Dr Andrew McDonald, State MP for Macquarie Fields and the Deputy Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Peter Harle, who both commented on how well the event was attended. They both gave speeches in support of the Filipino Community and how proud they should be of their heritage and contribution to society. Well over 300 people attended the event.
