Many customers of at least two banks in Blacktown have received hoax emails concerning their bank accounts.
The email even contains the bank’s logo to make it look authentic. The hoax email asks recipients for some vital information regarding the customer’s bank account and asks to click on a link within the content of the email.
The hoax email gets the customer to ring a certain number and tells the customer that their details have been disabled and they will need to enter their card and pin number on the phone to enable it.
Or, the hoax email advises the customer that they have had their service locked and instructs the customer to click on a link to restore access.
Philippine Sentinel advises customers to immediately delete such emails. No bank will ever send an email to their customers asking them to enter their personal information or click on certain links. Banks already know the personal information of their clients at the time when the account is established with the bank.
