Cardinal Pell, please explain: Priest given a holiday after being arrested for Sex Crime? by Marie Rea, BSDevCom

Last 14th of August 2009, Cardinal George Pell of the Catholic Church in Sydney stood down a priest charged with grooming a teenager for sex over the internet. However, the Church still helped to secure his release from custody.

It was also reported that the Church paid the priest's $25,000 bail and offered a "holiday unit" in Terrigal on the New South Wales central coast for him to stay. (Sources: www.livenews.com.au and television news reports as viewed by this writer)

A holiday! Please explain, Cardinal Pell!

Father Robert Fuller is accused of communicating with a 13-year-old girl in
Internet chat rooms over the past three weeks. He is the Parish priest at All
 Saints Catholic Church in Liverpool.

It is a known fact there is a great number of Filipino Australians who go to
All Saints Catholic Church. Also, its Hall is a popular venue for many events sponsored by various Fil-Aussie organizations, religious or otherwise. The Visayan Association of Australia for one had their Mrs Visayan Beauty Pageant there on August 15th to raise funds for its worthwhile projects.

In the course of securing permission to book this place, I am hopeful no
untoward or unsavoury incidents have ever occurred and that no child has been put at risk or preyed on by this horrible man. After all, many Filipino events involve the whole family with children present at these gatherings.

We do have to be careful of anyone, clergy or not! Looks are certainly
 deceiving!

Here are more details based on a report from livenews.com.au:

Fr. Fuller did not realise the teenager he was chatting with, was actually a
 police officer.

It is alleged the 54-year-old masturbated in front of a webcam and encouraged the assumed teenager to do the same, before arranging a meeting in Parramatta.

Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec said when Fuller arrived at the meeting point, he found officers waiting for him.

"He was shocked that it was our police there to meet him instead of a
 13-year-old girl."

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kai Peninkilampi told Parramatta Local Court that the allegations against Fuller were especially disturbing, given the priest's position.

"This is a clear abuse of a position of authority within the church,
particularly as the defendant is in a position of having access to
 (children)."

So this supposed "man of God" is a fraud if the charges on him are proven to be true! – ?
