One can say that BICOLANDIA with its classic recipes, Laing, Pinangat and Bicol Express is a place to die for!
KABIKOLAN, as it is called in the Bicol dialect is composed of six provinces: Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte. Bicolanos’ inspiration and pride is always the beautiful and exotic Mayon Volcano.
A true blue Bicolnon is HOT. He or she is known for his/her penchant for Siling labuyo. She is magayon and sensitive like the volcano, Beautiful but shy and unpredictable sometimes. She sends out fury when provoked.
PAGTIRIPON, the Bicol Community Leagues Inc had a lavish, gathering last 31st of May 2014 with the theme Unity in Adversity Onward? Methinks the phrase UNITY AMIDST ADVERSITY is more appropriate. The occasion was to induct the new set of officers with Penny Perfecto and Demi Robinson of Camarines Sur as chairpersons. It was held in Lily’s Function Centre, Seven Hills NSW — a place otherwise known as venue for weddings.
Congratulations to the organizers of the event which showcased products of Bicolandia and vocal renditions for entertainment.
Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis was guest speaker. She started with a welcome speech the focus of which were the achievements of Chairpersons during the past 4 years. Sadly, the achievements and projects of the outgoing Albay Chairpersons of 2012 and 2013 were missed out in the speech.
In fairness, this article is meant to let the community know that the previous chairpersons in 2012-2013 with Ross Iglesia as Chairperson and this writer as Vice Chairperson delivered a fundraising event for the ADOPT A SCHOOL project which was very successful for having netted close to $6,000. The event not only
attracted over 400 guests but was also the
biggest in the history of Bicol Inc.
Four sets of Computers were then donated to Baligang Public School in Camalig Albay during this writer’s term as Chairperson. The remainder of the monies generated from the fundraising was saved in the treasury for the next term of directors’ projects.
Like the indigenous Siling Labuyo the BICOLANOS will forever be hot and dynamic — proud of their heritage and culture.
