What is the secret behind winning a beauty pageant? The answer lies in a mixture of intelligence, beauty, charm and grace. Twenty-two year old Aprille Lim from Blacktown, NSW, is a candidate in the Miss Philippines Australia beauty pageant to be held on October at this year’s 21st Grand Philippine Fiesta. She is confident of winning.
Currently in her final year of law studies at Macquarie University, Aprille has a particular interest towards international law. This young beauty plans to become a solicitor who can work between nations such as the Philippines and Australia.
Undaunted by cultural barriers, Aprille has taken steps to make her goal a reality. She was deemed an ambassador of goodwill between the two nations when she won the title of Miss Bicolandia – Australia in 2007. As such, she raised more than $10,000 for charity to help the victims of Typhoon Reming that swept through the Bicol region that year.
As a candidate for Miss Philippines Australia this year, Aprille has once again been using her beauty and charm to raise money for various charities in the Philippines by holding a number of charity benefits, door knocking appeals, raffle ticket selling and collecting business sponsorships to support her cause.
Aprille, who plays an active role in the Filipino community, is proud of her cultural heritage. Apart from being a law student, she is also a part time model, actor and TV presenter who continues to appear both locally and internationally. Aprille studied acting and TV presenting at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. She feels proud to be representing the Filipino community every time she works on a project in Sydney.
Aprille is confident that she has what it takes to win. This year, the pageant will be held at Fairfield Showground on October 18 with an expected audience of some 40,000 people in attendance. – ?
