The lone Filipina candidate for 2009 Miss Earth Australia joined eight other candidates for a Meet The Press session at The Corregidor centre in Rooty Hill last Sunday.
Kim Aldover, 20, was born in Manila, Philippines, and arrived in Australia at the age of two. She lives in Glenwood NSW, a Blacktown City suburb, and is a student at the University of Sydney going for a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in psychology.
”The Miss Earth Australia pageant is more than just a night of glitz and glamour,” Ms Aldover said. ”Candidates must be environmental activists, especially the winner, embodying the quest’s motto: Beauty for a Cause.
“”I will be representing Australia, because I am now an Australian. But I proudly acknowledge my Filipino heritage and, inevitably, will be representing the Filipino community in Sydney which I am thrilled about. And I hope I can represent the Filipino-Australian community well.” – ?
