The PAMA Cup Golf Tournament held on March 1at the Riverside Oaks Golf Resort in Cattai, NSW was a fund raising event for the continuing yearly medical missions project of the Philippine Australian Medical Association (PAMA) in our home country. It started in 2008.
The players were all praises for the A1 golf course, the food, the very relaxing ambience of the function room and the great cause for the tournament.
As an offshoot of the golf tournament, a prominent golfer, Max Borromeo and his family in the Philippines donated 100,000 pesos as help to cover the transportation expenses in the forthcoming PAMA medical mission in Tanauan and Palo, Leyte in April this year. (They are part of the areas devastated by the typhoon Haiyan in November, 2013.) The 2016 medical missions will be in La Union and in Sagada, Mt. Province.
The major sponsors of the successful golf tournament were Tess Maglaya and Associates, Dr. Roger Fabian and family and the Francisco Surgery. Other sponsors were Medical Specialists, some PAMA Doctors, families and friends of PAMA, Medical Centers and Ria International. The tournament was initiated by the husband and wife team of Ferdi and Cora Francisco, supported by the hardworking committee members — Mao and Ophee de Vera, Roger Fabian, Amabel and John Harding.
Worth mentioning is the unsullied generosity of most of the winners. They must have been touched by the video presentation of PAMA’s last 2 medical missions; in Sasmoan, Pampanga in 2013 and in Solana and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan in 2014.
