Is the sushi you eat really clean? by Rio Matro

My favourite sushi outlet is always full of sushi lovers. But have you bothered to observe how your sushi or sashimi is being prepared?

Of course it is prepared right before your eyes. They wear disposable rubber gloves in handling food to give the impression that the sushi served is germ-free. But did you ever notice that the food handlers use the same disposable gloves when handling knives, kitchen wares and other items in the kitchen? They don’t bother to change gloves!
The problem is that the gloves when used to handle pans, bottles, and other dirty items that may contain bacteria transfer the germ into the food that is served. Of course it is very inconvenient for these food handlers to be changing gloves very often. As it is, they use disposable gloves to keep their hands clean but not to prevent the transfer of bacteria into the food we eat. Next time you visit a sushi outlet, you might want to be more observant.
