The entire Filipino nation has grown blind, deaf, dumb and insensitive from the years of intolerable abuse turned tolerable by consecutive abusive administrations. Common Sense dictates that the developing plunder that is the continuing attempt to craft the NBN-ZTE deal is a crime against the people of the Philippines. It is actually happening before the nation’s eyes “in flagrante delicto”.
In the name of all that is holy, our motherland is being gang-raped right before our collective eyes. Yet we are advised that “these people who are piled on top of our battered and bleeding motherland have a right to be presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law”?
What about our motherland’s right to be pulled out from under the rapists’ continuing assault in the meantime? Wasn’t the principle of “in flagrante delicto” applied in another situation to a former president whose term of office was stopped even before he received due process of law because of his clear and present preoccupation with the continuing plunder of the nation’s coffers? He was stopped first, and then given due process later.
This new gang of plunderers are now just buying enough time to plunder enough to fund a strong legal defense (or an escape from the clutches of Philippine justice) when they are finally haled to court for their due process. In the meantime, the rape/plunder continues. I am not a lawyer, but in my student days I managed to learn a bit of natural law which derives from Common Sense.
