Of course, the real member is very much alive.
Virgilio de la Cruz of Cabanatuan wanted to apply for retirement benefits but discovered that his application had to be denied because Social Security System records indicate that he has already ‘died.”
He has been going back and forth from his house to the Cabanatuan Branch Office of SSS for several weeks to fix the problem
Fortunately, SSS was successful in tracing the identity of the person who made the fraudulent claim and his retirement benefit will finally start on January 1, 2019.
Disability claim put on hold
Thirty-seven-year-old Renel Gaspar has found much difficulty moving around since he suffered a stroke.
He filed a claim for disability benefits with SSS last February 2018. After waiting for more than 5 months, nothing has been heard from the SSS office. He had indicated that he has diabetes and needs to take maintenance medicine regularly to control his blood sugar. His doctor also said that he needs medication for his cholesterol.
But SSS said that he was given four months to recover. It was only after then that he could file for disability. His SSS records indicated other problems. It was alleged that he has not made any member contribution for over a year.
