The Philippines is probably the only country in the world that celebrates the yuletide season as early as September.
As soon as the “ber” months appear in the calendar, most streets in Metro Manila are decorated with glittering Christmas lights. Department stores, with the intention of luring people to shop early for Christmas do the same thing. Not just multi-coloured lights but Christmas carols fill the air in shopping malls.
Lantern Parade and Contest
In keeping with this Filipino tradition, leading Filipino organisations in New South Wales have sponsored a two-day Lantern Parade and Contest at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour, Sydney. It is scheduled this month on November 10 and 11. For more details, please contact
