President Rodrigo Duterte admitted that his ‘only sin’ is the extrajudicial killings as collateral damage for his administration’s brutal war against illegal drugs.
EJK has resulted to the deaths of thousands of Filipinos nationwide and continues to receive global condemnation, in particular from The United nation and various Human Rights Groups.
He slammed Senator Francis Pangilinan for being the author of Republic Act 9344 or the Juvenile Justice Welfare Act of 2006. He said the law has produced several juvenile criminals.
“Ito naman si pontifical [Senator] Pangilinan, akala mo walang kasalanan kung magsalita, siya pa ‘yung presidente ng Liberal. Tingnan mo, pati siya hindi manalo ‘yan,” Duterte said in a speech before career executive officers in Malacañang.
(This pope-like Pangilinan, he thinks he is without sin when he talks. He is president of the Liberal Party but he couldn’t win.)
“Ako, I will talk to a political exercise now. What are your sins? Ako? Sabi ko nga sa military, ano kasalanan ko? Nagnakaw ba ako diyan ni piso? Did I prosecute somebody na pinakulong ko? Ang kasalanan ko lang ‘yung mga extrajudicial killing,” he added but did not elaborate on his statement.
(As for myself, I will now dwell on politics. I mentioned that to the military. What sins do I have? Did I steal even one peso? Did I send anyone to prison? My only sin is extrajudicial killings.)
