The announcement was made by Veronica Alcantara, RN, who is the newly-elected president of the Philippine Health Care Association of Australia. PHCAA now provides financial assistance to two college students in the Philippines. These are Maria Kristyn Manansala Lozares and Vanessa Lozares Adriano. They are both students of The Child Jesus College in Caloocan City. The parents of these two children are confined
in Tala Leprosarium.
Without the commitment of PHCAA, children of Tala patients have no means to complete their college education that would somehow ensure a brighter future for them.
The scholarship foundation which is managed by PHCAA is an ongoing project aimed at improving the lives of the less fortunate people in the Philippines. The project is only one among many others introduced by Ella Magallanes Martirez, executive director of PHCAA. This non-profit organization was founded more than 5 years ago by Wally Silvino, who has remained in the board of PHCAA.
Vanessa Lozares Adriano, PHCAA Scholar, is a student of Child Jesus College in Caloocan City. A few more years are required for her to complete a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Her cousin Kristyn Lozares, is another scholar of PHCAA taking a similar course in the same college. – ?
