Michelle Rowland was officially declared last month as the Federal Member for Greenway by the Australian Electoral Commission.
Ms Rowland thanked her supporters and the community for the confidence they had shown in electing her to Parliament.
“This was an extremely close and hard-fought election and it is a great honour to be given the opportunity to represent our community in the Federal Parliament,” Ms Rowland said. “I thank the people of Greenway who have given me the privilege of representing our community.”
“I look forward to working with local residents to make our community an even better place to live and raise a family. “I will fight for a fair share for our community and for urgently needed improvements to health, education and broadband services. I will always be available to help and will work hard for everyone in our community.”
”I would also like to acknowledge the other candidates who worked hard to keep our nation’s great democratic tradition strong by contesting this election.”
Ms Rowland also thanked the Greenway Division Returning Officer, Ms Karen Houston and her hardworking staff at the Australian Electoral Commission.
“Ms Houston and her staff are diligent, impartial and provide a wonderful model of committed public service,” Ms Rowland said. “The Australian Electoral Commission deserves our congratulations and thanks for the professionalism they showed throughout the election campaign.” – ?
